I have 8 days of holidays left. I foresee in the coming weeks a lot of awkward small talk about what everyone did with their summer, how they’ve been and hearing a million times over, “OMG you changed your hair, I almost didn’t recognize you.” I am not looking forward to this one single bit. Mostly because all of my friends have done amazing things with their holidays of 2 months, like worked in a hospice in Singapore and met people with multiple metastases, volunteered in hospitals in India, went on boat cruises in the Cook Islands, went skiing in Japan etc. The most exciting thing I did with my summer was probably going to Lorne… which is a 3 hour drive away. My stories of going out too much, trying unsuccessfully to apply for jobs, working at the tennis and sunbaking on my trampoline kind of pale in comparison.

But I guess it’s exciting to be back at uni in a week. I’m slowly starting to fall into that awful pattern of going out every night, getting to bed super late, sleeping in until the afternoon, not achieving anything productive in the day, and then slowly starting to get ready to go out again… I hate that.
