I took the history of this 75 year old lady this week who’d broken her wrist after falling down and who’d also recently lost her husband of 50 years. Apparently her husband had had severe dementia in the years before his death and stopped being able to recognise even his closest family members. After seeing the deterioration of her husband she was so adamant on remaining physically fit and keeping her mind active that she had this daily routine of doing sudoku puzzles everyday and going for a walk in her garden. She’d mapped out this route which took her exactly 100 steps to walk each day. She was apparently really determined to keep up her 100 steps in the hospital too so she’d walk around the wards everyday and she proudly told me that the nurses kept saying to her, “you’re wearing out the linoleum on the floor Mrs Jones.” What an awesome little old lady.
